Specialized Dog Training
Dogs are very popular pets all over the world but for many people their dogs are much more than just companions and joy. Some dog breed have special skills and can be taught specific tasks which are of great importance both for individuals (assistance dogs) and community (police dogs), and sometimes even decide between life and death (rescue dogs).
Dogs which are trained for special purposes for example detection dogs, assistance dogs, rescue dogs, herding dogs, etc. must go through a specialized dog training because the tasks they are entrusted leave no room for mistakes. Dogs that are trained to rescue people, to guide the blind, to assist the police officers, to assist in herding, etc. have to be completely reliable all the time and for that reason it is highly important that there is no doubt they be able to do "job".
Training of a dog for special purposes usually takes years of dedicated work of a
professional trainer, while every dog has to go through a special selection before
he starts specialized training. The reason for that lays in the fact that there are
great differences not only from breed to breed but also from dog to dog from the
same breed. Even after careful selection and special training dogs are usually also
on probation for a certain period so the new owners or guardians do not have to
worry if their dog is properly trained and if he is able to perform the required
tasks.
